Sustainable Food Alliance of BC members employ more than 20,000 people across British Columbia – representing a significant contribution to the province’s $35-billion food industry.

What we do

We are proactive in the effective and efficient implementation of the region’s strategic management plans, directly supporting sustainable food and organic waste policies. We believe in a collaborative approach, and work closely with both regional and provincial governments to develop long-term strategies for economic growth and job creation, environmental protection and a thriving agricultural sector.

While we represent a broad cross-section of the industry – each having specific goals and objectives – our common focus is maintaining a strong and lasting circular food economy for British Columbians. The circular model supported by our processing members ensures that valuable materials that would otherwise end up in landfills are recycled into new products – helping ensure a strong domestic food system.

Innovations that are guided by farmers, adapted to local circumstances, and sustainable for the economy and environment will be necessary to ensure food security in the future.
