Sustainability means more than waste reduction and recycling. It also requires forward-thinking government regulation and the commitment of industry to uphold smart principles every day. In our highly-interconnected agriculture system, it means rethinking the way we put food on the table.

The circular food economy structure represented by the members of the Alliance not only reduces waste that would otherwise go to landfill, but also allows the reuse of valuable organic materials to support the viability of a local food economy – both now and into the future.

While other sectors of the Canadian economy are striving to create structures that promote a circular economy approach, Sustainable Food Alliance of BC members are taking a leading role. We’re creating jobs, a healthy economy and a viable domestic food system for British Columbia and Western Canada, and reducing waste to protect future generations.
